I was doing research on AI in 2017 and already back then people were falling in love with Replika, an AI chatbot. I was gathering data and I SAW the Facebook groups and the conversations.
People believed in these “artificial companions” already.
I consider it my job as an AI expert and clone builder to keep you up to date and informed on the future of our society, integrated with AI.
And this topic is…difficult. I would love your opinion on this because I’m divided:
A. A lot of lonely people might find comfort in these artificial replicas: ”better this than nothing”.
B. These are just distractions that alienate us even further from each other, products to make money and nothing more.
